HL Deb 03 July 1991 vol 530 cc69-70WA
Lord Mulley

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will arrange for decisions concerning the future of St. Mark's Hospital to be taken by Ministers and not by the City and Hackney Health Authority or the North East Thames Regional Health Authority and whether they will give an undertaking that no such decision will be taken when Parliament is not in session.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Health (Baroness Hooper)

The provision of health services at St. Mark's Hospital is a matter for City and Hackney Health Authority, who, in discussion with senior consultants at the hospital and with the regional health authority, are considering options for the relocation of St. Mark's services. Once any decision has been made, the health authority will have to follow the normal consultation process.
