§ Mr. DorrellThis Department has received a pre-publication copy of the report of the results of the study, by the laboratory of the Government Chemist, of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons present in cigarette smoke and they are included in a paper, "Yields of tar and other smoke components from UK cigarettes", which has been accepted for publication in the journal "Food and Chemical Toxicology", July 1991 issue, expected to appear late August. Copies will be placed in the Library.
The results of the investigation by the small area health statistics unit at the London school of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine into incidences of cancer and mortality rates around incinerators is expected this autumn. The results of its coking work investigations may take longer and it is not possible to give an expected date yet. The reports of both studies will be made public.
