To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he has completed his consideration of the contractorisation of search-and-rescue operations; and if he will make a statement.

§ Mr. Archie Hamilton
As part of the "Options for Change" review of the future size and shape of the armed forces, the Ministry of Defence is currently studying the provision of military SAR. A decision on the contractorisation of part of the military SAR task will be taken after this work has been completed.
