HC Deb 02 July 1991 vol 194 cc116-7W
Mrs. Gorman

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he has any plans to undertake a national survey to determine the numbers of women who suffer unpleasant symptoms during the menopause; and if he will make a statement.

Mrs. Virginia Bottomley

No. It is the experience of clinicians working in this field that about a quarter of women will have no menopausal symptoms, about half will have some symptoms, and the remainder will have symptoms severe enough to require medical treatment.
