§ Mr. ForthMy right hon. and learned Friend the Secretary of State has offered the TUC a trade union education and training grant of £1.734 million for 1991–92. The continuity of such funding is dependent on a satisfactory annual review of expenditure of the grant and on the overriding need to control public expenditure. Monitoring the expenditure of the grant to ensure that it satisfies the terms and conditions of the relevant memorandum of arrangements is carried out jointly by officials of the Department of Employment and the TUC with the assistance of Her Majesty's inspectorate.
