asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will name those prisons at which staff have either refused, or threatened to refuse, the admission of prisoners, during 1991.

Earl Ferrers

Between 1st January and 24th June 1991 as a consequence of industrial action by the Prison Officers' Association, staff refused admission of prisoners at the following prisons:

  • Cardiff
  • Glen Parva
  • Pentonville
  • Shepton Mallett

There was a threat to refuse prisoners in the same period at the following prisons:

  • Bedford
  • Gloucester Hindley
  • Liverpool
  • Stoke Heath
