§ Mr. LeighThe representations received from the manufacturers of generic medicines have covered a range of views. None has given unqualified support to the Commission's proposal; indeed, some have not favoured any supplementary protection. Most, however, have recognised the case for some supplementary protection, but have advocated a shorter period or have suggested other provisions to offset the effect of supplementary protection on generics manufacturers.
