HC Deb 01 July 1991 vol 194 c76W
Mr. Sayeed

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what powers he has under the Army Act to reconvene a hoard of inquiry with revised terms of reference.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

The Secretary of State for Defence has no direct powers under the Army Act 1955 to convene any board of inquiry. If it is necessary for a particular matter to be investigated by a board of inquiry, it will be convened by the relevant military authorities under the rules laid down in section 135 of the Army Act.
