§ Mr. Alan HowarthMy right hon. and learned Friend announced his plans for spending on higher education on 8 November 1990 and published projections for student numbers in higher education on the same date. Recurrent public funding per FTE student in Polytechnics and Colleges Funding Council funded institutions underlying the plans is £4,137 in the financial year 1991–92. The latest estimate for such funding in the financial year 1990–91 is £4,018. Total expenditure per student will depend on a number of additional factors on which information is not yet available.
