To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what was the gross domestic fixed capital formation per head in Scotland as a percentage of the United Kingdom total in each year from 1974 to the most recent available date.

The table gives the available information on gross domestic fixed capital formation—GDFCF—per head in Scotland as a percentage of the equivalent GDFCF per head for the United Kingdom from 1974 to 1988, the latest year for which figures are available. The footnotes to the table explain the coverage of the estimates in different periods.

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will provide figures for Scotland's gross fixed capital formation as a percentage of the United Kingdom's, excluding the continental shelf, fixed capital formation for(a) all industries and (b) manufacturing for 1988 in a form comparable to that provided in his answer of 31 October 1990, Official Report, columns 589–90.
