§ Miss Emma NicholsonTo ask the Secretary of State for Health what consultation he proposes to take in order to evaluate the first wave of national health service trusts.
§ Mrs. Virginia BottomleyAt the local level district health authorities will be closely engaged with NHS trusts in negotiating contracts for services. Trusts will have at least one public meeting each year to discuss their annual report and accounts. Nationally, trusts will be accountable through their business plans and in-year financial monitoring.
