HC Deb 22 January 1991 vol 184 c128W
Mr. John Morris

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales, pursuant to his letter to the right hon. Member for Aberavon of 13 September 1990 concerning West Glamorgan area health authority's proposal to build a new hospital, whether he will now announce the Treasury's decision.

Mr. Nicholas Bennett

Following the submission by West Glamorgan health authority of an approval in principle for the proposed new district general hospital to serve Neath and Port Talbot, the Department requested on 13 September 1990 further information in the form of a business plan. The aim of this business plan is to demonstrate the viability of the development in the new purchaser-provider environment.

The Treasury will reach a decision on the approval in principle submission once this information has been provided.
