To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what action his Department intends to take regarding the Court of Appeal judgment in July 1990, Secretary of Statev. Thomas, Cooze, Beard, Murphy and Morley v. Secretary of State, regarding discriminatory upper age limits for severe disability allowance and invalid care allowance.

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security how much his Department will save through the restriction of paying back-dated benefits arising from test cases, introduced by the Social Security Act 1990.

Savings for the current financial year are estimated to be of the order of £2 million.
