To ask the hon. Member for Berwick-upon-Tweed, representing the House of Commons Commission, why the cleaners in the House of Commons itself and other associated buildings were requested to work on Monday 24 December.

For a number of staff of the House, Christmas eve was a normal non-sitting working day, although only a proportion of the House's directly employed cleaning staff was required for work that day.
