To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what estimate he has of when irradiated food will be on sale in the United Kingdom; and if he will make a statement.

Since the possibility of licensing under the Food (Control of Irradiation) Regulations 1991 was introduced only on 1 January it is too early for any meaningful estimate to be made.
