§ Mr. CurryInformation on gross value added per head in other sectors of industry in the United Kingdom is contained in pages 10–37 of the "Business Monitor: Report on the Census of Production—Summary Volume, 1988", available in the Library of the House. These estimates are not fully comparable with those for agriculture contained in my reply of 18 December: they relate to total numbers employed whereas, for agriculture, the denominator is annual labour units (reflecting full time worker equivalents). Furthermore, comparisons between sectors should be interpreted cautiously because of the differing degrees of support and protection embodied in the value added of each sector and because of different deployments of labour and capital.
