§ Mr. Teddy TaylorTo ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make a statement on the expected impact of the food aid programme for the Soviet Union agreed at the European Council on 15 December 1990, on planned EC spending on agriculture.
§ Mr. CurryThe European Council agreed to supply 250 million ecu—£174 million—of food aid to the USSR. This will be funded from the underspend in the 1990 European Agricultural Guidance and Guarantee Fund guarantee budget. No decision has been made on the type and quantities of food involved and it is not yet possible to assess any other effects on Community agricultural expenditure.
