To ask the Attorney-General how many vacancies for professionally qualified staff exist currently in(a) the Crown prosecution service and (b) the Serious Fraud Office; and if he will make a statement.

The Attorney-General

The Crown prosecution service currently has 366.5 vacancies for lawyers, within a total requirement for lawyers of 2,053. In the past 12 months the number of lawyers in post has increased from 1,580 to 1,686.5, an average net gain of 10.5 per month. There are no vacancies for lawyers or accountants in the Serious Fraud Office.
