HC Deb 28 February 1991 vol 186 c559W
Mr. Parry

To ask the Secretary of State for Health (1) what steps he has taken to satisfy himself that the consultative process for the closure of St. Paul's eye hospital, Liverpool is being carried out correctly by the Mersey regional health authority; and if he will make a statement;

(2) whether the consultation process set down by his Department for the closure of St. Paul's eye hospital, Liverpool requires South Sefton health authority to produce a consultative document on the eye services to be transferred from St. Paul's.

Mr. Dorrell

Consultation on this closure is a matter for the Liverpool health authority. It is for the South Sefton health authority to decide if it needs to comment on changes affecting its services. We issued guidance last year on the procedure for consultation. The hon. Member may wish to contact Mr. M. Emberton, the chairman of Liverpool health authority or Mr. D. Tod, the chairman of South Sefton health authority, for details.
