Whether it is true that the Government and Parliament of Lithuania have passed laws discriminating against the Russian and Polish minorities.

We do not have full details of Lithuanian legislation, but we are aware that anxieties have been expressed by some members of the Russian and Polish minorities over some items of legislation passed by the Lithuanian parliament. We have encouraged the Lithuanian authorities to ensure that the rights of minorities in Lithuania are fully protected and that all their legislation is in line with internationally recognised human rights standards.
