§ Mr. FreemanIn taking forward the Government's initiative aimed at encouraging private sector involvement in the financing, building and operation of transport infrastructure, I held meetings last year with representatives of the construction industry, financial institutions and consultancy firms. Following these discussions, I have reconsidered some aspects of the Department's practice in the holding of competitions, and have written to those who attended the meetings.
