To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will give the capital expenditure on information technology by the health and social service boards for doctors' practices, and expenditure on information technology training in 1989–90 and 1990–91 and capital expenditure for hospital and community health services on computers.

During the financial year 1989–90 expenditure by health and personal social services boards on information technology for doctors' practices was £53,000, and the total capital expenditure on information technology for hospital and community health services was £7,426,000.

Accurate figures for expenditure on information technology training in 1989–90 are not readily available in respect of all boards, but total expenditure was in the region of £100,000.

The relevant expenditure figures for the financial year 1990–91 are not available at this stage.
