HC Deb 28 February 1991 vol 186 c612W
Mr. Menzies Campbell

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence (1) if RAF aircrew who have been posted as missing in action since the start of hostilities in the Gulf are still receiving flying pay;

(2) whether, when aircrew in the RAF are posted as missing in action, they continue to receive flying pay.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

The entitlement of missing personnel to receive pay is suspended until their status is confirmed. In the meantime an allowance equal to the total pay and allowances, including flying pay, in issue at the date they become missing is payable to their own account, or to their dependants, as appropriate. These arrangements have applied during the Gulf conflict.

Mr. Menzies Campbell

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will publish the conditions under which flying pay is paid to aircrew in the Royal Air Force.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

These are set out in the Queen's regulations for the Royal Air Force, paragraphs 2681 to 2684, inclusive, a copy of which is held in the Library of the House.
