HC Deb 28 February 1991 vol 186 c543W
Mr. Fraser

To ask the Attorney-General if he will make a statement on the reasons for the delay of four months in Bow county court case No. 9005276 in paying out of court money paid into court and accepted in settlement.

The Attorney-General

The delay in payment to the plaintiff of money held in court was the result of a regrettable administrative error in the office at Bow county court.

The defendant made an offer of settlement before a hearing date had been allocated. The offer was accepted by the plaintiff but not processed by the court until prompted by the plaintiff's solicitors.

The court funds office then made payment on 30 January 1991. Exceptionally, the payment included interest to take account of any inconvenience the plaintiff may have suffered as a result of the delay.
