To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement on the current daily cost of the Gulf war.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

The current full daily operating cost of our involvement in the Gulf conflict is estimated to be over £4.5 million per day.

Mr. Cryer

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what information he has concerning military nuclear research and development at the Iraqi research establishment at Taji and Al-Qaqaa.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

Both Taji and Al-Qaqaa are believed to be military associated plants and may be involved in research related to the development of nuclear weapons.
