To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland whether he has any plans to extend the provisions of the Race Relations Act 1976 to Northern Ireland.

Mr. Brooke

[holding answer 25 February 1991]: In its second report, on "Religious and Political Discrimination and Equality of Opportunity in Northern Ireland" (Cm 1107) the Standing Advisory Commission on Human Rights has recommended that racial discrimination be made unlawful in Northern Ireland. I am considering this with the other detailed recommendations of the report.
