HC Deb 27 February 1991 vol 186 c525W
Mrs. Ray Michie

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what funds will be made available to provide an awareness campaign on the forthcoming new temperature controls under the Food Hygiene (Amendment) Regulations 1990; and what form the campaign will take.

Mr. Dorrell

I have been asked to reply.

We are making funds available from the Department of Health's publicity budget for a publicity campaign which comprises the following measures:

  • a leaflet and poster highlighting the main provisions of the regulations;
  • the direct mailing of the leaflet and poster to 300,000 business addresses;
  • advertisements in the daily press and selected 'Trade journals;
  • a telephone link service to respond to requests for publicity material.
In addition "Guidelines on the Food Hygiene (Amendment) Regulations 1990" is being published by Her Majesty's Stationery Office.

I also refer the hon. Member to the reply I gave my hon. Friend the Member for Gedling (Mr. Mitchell) on 21 February at columns 245–46.
