HC Deb 27 February 1991 vol 186 cc516-7W
Ms. Primarolo

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he has received the MAS report on the shortfall in psychology services in the national health service; and what steps he is taking to increase the availability of clinical psychology services in the national health service.

Mrs. Virginia Bottomley

The management advisory service (MAS) report was commissioned by the manpower planning advisory group (MPAG), a joint Department of Health and NHS body. Part of its brief was to address manpower planning issues in the NHS. The recommendations of the MAS report informed the work of MPAG and the production of its own report on clinical psychology services in the NHS. It is for health authorities to determine the staff they require in the light of the services they are required to provide.
