HC Deb 27 February 1991 vol 186 c531W
Mr. Steen

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make it his policy that planning applications for hotels and service stations along the A38 Exeter-Plymouth road will be turned down on appeal until a decision as to the future status of the A38 has been determined by the Department of Transport.

Sir George Young

No. Every planning appeal must be considered on its merits, but proposals that involve changes or additions to the highway network will be a material consideration wherever they affect planning appeals.
