§ Mr. Norman LamontFigures on general Government expenditure, excluding privatisation proceeds, in real terms and general government expenditure, excluding privatisation proceeds, as a proportion of gross domestic product were set out in table 2.1 of the statistical supplement to the 1990 autumn statement. The figures show that general Government expenditure, excluding privatisation proceeds, rose by 4 per cent. in real terms between 1983–84 and 1989–90. As a proportion of gross domestic product it fell from 46½ per cent. to 39½ per cent. over the same period.
