HC Deb 26 February 1991 vol 186 cc423-4W
Rev. Martin Smyth

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many people have been arrested in the United Kingdom arising out of the Gulf war; how many have been released; and how many are awaiting appeals.

Mr. Peter Lloyd

A total of 113 have been detained since 2 August 1990 following service of deportation notices for reasons of national security. Nineteen have been released and 23 others who wished to leave the United Kingdom have done so. Sixteen have not yet appeared before the panel and we await the advice of the panel on 12 cases heard last week.
