§ Mr. Harry BarnesTo ask the Secretary of State for Employment (1) if he has any plans to encourage the extension of training facilities for unemployed people who wish to obtain heavy goods vehicle licences as a means of improving their job prospects;
(2) if he will draw up proposals to provide for free driving lessons for unemployed people who wish to learn to drive as a means of improving their job prospects.
Mr. JacksonIt is for training and enterprise councils to determine the vocational training provision they will support for unemployed people in the light of the local labour market.
