HC Deb 22 February 1991 vol 186 cc319-20W
Mr. O'Neill

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what is the monetary value of the assistance provided by the Saudi Government for Operation Granby; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

The value of the host nation support provided by Saudi Arabia for United Kingdom forces is continually increasing. On 6 February we estimated the value to be between £120 million and £150 million, and that it will be around £200 million by the end of March.

Mr. Flynn

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence (1) if he will list the targets in Kuwait over which the United States air force exploded fuel-air-explosive weapons;

(2) whether the British Government and other coalition partners were consulted by the United States on their intention to drop fuel-air-explosive bombs on Kuwait.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

It is not our practice to comment in detail on the types of weapon employed against particular targets. Allied policy is to attack only military targets and facilities which support Iraq's illegal occupation of Kuwait.
