HC Deb 22 February 1991 vol 186 cc314-5W
Mr. Ron Davies

To ask the Minister of Agriculture. Fisheries and Food what is his policy on offering free veterinary and nutritional advice to fur farmers; and on how many occasions in each of the last five years this advice has been sought.

Mr. Maclean

Welfare advice is provided free by the state veterinary service, but I would expect a farmer to obtain advice from his private veterinary surgeon on detailed matters such as the treatment of individual sick animals. Advice on nutrition is available on a chargeable basis from ADAS.

Information on the number of times advice has been provided in the last five years could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.
