HC Deb 20 February 1991 vol 186 c191W
Mr. Parry

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what is the estimate of the costs of the Gulf hostilities at the latest date.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

The additional costs of the Gulf conflict so far assessed are some £1.5 billion including equipment lost and munitions used. On the basis indicated by my right hon. Friend the Chancellor in the autumn statement last week, we expect that the eventual costs could be £3 billion.

Mr. Parry

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if the Red Crescent has sent him any official figures of the number of civilians killed in recent bombing raids on Iraq; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

My right hon. Friend has received no such reports from the Red Crescent.
