To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what was the number of prisoners held on remand in police cells on 1 February.

§ Mrs. Rumbold
On Friday 1 February there were 604 prisoners in police cells. The precise split between remand and other prisoners is not available centrally but most would have been remand prisoners.
