HC Deb 20 February 1991 vol 186 cc150-1W
Mr. Wigley

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales, pursuant to his written answer of 14 February to the hon. Member for Caernarfon, relating to the A487 Felinheli bypass, why supplementary orders were necessary; on what date they were published; until what date objections were accepted; how many objections were received to these supplementary orders; and what was the nature of the objections.

Sir Wyn Roberts

Supplementary orders were required to take account of recommendations by the public inquiry inspector and other changes identified later during the detailed design of the scheme. Drafts of the supplementary side roads order and the supplementary compulsory purchase order were published on the 19 October and 9 November 1990 respectively and the periods for objection expired on 30 November. There were eight objections and three representations which were mainly concerned with the effects on agricultural land; inadequacy of farm accesses; the acquisition of additional land and the dismantling of railway track.

Mr. Wigley

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales which consulting engineers were employed to design the A487 Felinheli bypass; and whether he intends to employ anyone else in this capacity to expedite the scheme.

Sir Wyn Roberts

Messrs Parkman consulting engineers. There are no plans to employ another consulting engineer.
