§ 30. Mr. Teddy TaylorTo ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what discussions he has had with the EC about access by Japanese-owned British car firms to the EC; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. LilleyI have had a number of discussions with the EC Commission and with other member states about trade in cars within the EC and between the EC and Japan. The Government have consistently taken the line, which the Commission accepts, that cars produced in the United Kingdom by Japanese-owned companies must be treated as European products in every respect.
