HC Deb 15 February 1991 vol 185 cc607-8W
Mr. Hinchliffe

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, pursuant to his answer of 5 February to the hon. Member for Wakefield,Official Report, column 96, if health authorities are empowered to charge for the supply of incontinence pads to individual residents in private nursing homes.

Mr. Dorrell

While Departmental guidance to health authorities is that they should not supply incontinence pads to private nursing home residents, there is nothing in law to prevent it. If health authorities were to supply them, they would not be allowed to charge.
