HC Deb 14 February 1991 vol 185 cc548-9W
Mr. Wigley

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what steps he intends to take to ensure that asylum-seekers are granted comprehensive advice on asylum procedures and information on agencies and refugee community organisations upon their arrival in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Peter Lloyd

The Government provide 25 per cent. of the funding of the refugee unit of the United Kingdom immigration advisory service for the purpose of advising asylum seekers in the United Kingdom. I am satisfied that the present arrangements for informing asylum seekers of the advice available from the United Kingdom immigration advisory service are adequate.
