HC Deb 14 February 1991 vol 185 cc569-70W
20. Mr. Hague

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many schools, youth and community groups are engaged in cross-community activities; and if he will make a statement.

Dr. Mawhinney

Uptake under the cross-community contact scheme has grown progressively since its introduction in 1987 and today over one-third of all Northern Ireland schools—about 450 schools—and 300 youth or community groups are participating in joint programmes. The budget for the present financial year is £500,000.
