§ Mr. Michael ForsythInformation for 1990 is not yet available. The total number of patients who were resident in mental illness and psychiatric units at 31 December 1989 was 13,599. The number of in-patient discharges in 1989 was 29,576. For the year ended 31 March 1990 Scottish hospitals dealt with 3,651 day case attendances as well as treating 36,448 new out-patients.
