HC Deb 11 February 1991 vol 185 cc370-1W
Mr. Flynn

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what is the number and proportion of claimants who are disqualified for unemployment benefit, and of these, the number and proportion who are in receipt of reduced income support.

Mr. Jack

The latest information at May 1989 shows that of the 1,090,631 income support claimants registered as available for employment 31,574—2.9 per cent. —were receiving reduced income support because of disqualification or disallowance. Other information on numbers of unemployed claimants and the decisions of adjudication officers is in "Unemployment Benefit Statistics—Quarterly Analysis of Unemployed Claimants" and "Unemployment Benefit Statistics—Quarterly Analysis of Decisions of Adjudication Officers", copies of which are in the Library.
