To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he is proposing to visit the site for the second Severn crossing.

I have already visited the site proposed for the English landfall of the bridge.

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make a statement on the recent meeting between his officials, representatives of Laing GMT, and English Stones Fishery Partnership regarding compensation for disturbance of fishing rights concomitant upon the construction of the second Severn crossing.

Mr. Freeman

A meeting has been held with the English Stones Fishery Partnership concerning the possible effects of the proposed second Severn bridge on the partnership's fishing rights. The partnership has now deposited a petition against the Severn Bridges Bill. It will now be for the Select Committee to consider that petition in the normal way.
