To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many parliamentary constituencies there are in(a) England, (b) Wales, (c) Northern Ireland and (d) Scotland.

The number of parliamentary con-stituencies is currently as followsEngland 523; Wales 38; Scotland 72 and Northern Ireland 17.

The number of constituencies in England will be increased to 524 at the next general election.
