Mr. Morgan

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if, pursuant to his reply of 22 January,Official Report, column 162, he will now recirculate to NHS district general managers a copy of the letter of 31 July 1988 advising against the use of unpasteurised egg in recipes where the egg is unlikely to be cooked thoroughly.

Mr. Dorrell

The existing guidance to all NHS district managers, given in the letter issued on 29 July 1988 remains extant. The Department keeps this matter under regular review and will issue reminders or revised guidance as necessary.
