§ Mr. WigleyTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what representations he has made to the Somalian authorities concerning(a) the detention of political prisoners and (b) alleged abuses of political detainees.
§ Mrs. ChalkerWe have repeatedly raised these issues with the Somali authorities including at ministerial level over a long period. Following the fall of the Siad Barre regime there is at present no established authority in Somalia and information about conditions inside the country is hard to come by.
