To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what action he has taken to safeguard the Chelsea-Hackney line.

Initial safeguarding directions under the Town and Country Planning General Development Order 1988 have been made. These came into force on 7 February 1991. London Transport will be consulting those affected. If need be, the initial direction will be amended in the light of those consultations.
