HC Deb 06 February 1991 vol 185 c148W
Mr. Morley

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what steps he is taking to seek to ensure that courts in northern Cyprus do not block the administrator of Polly Peck International from investigating or obtaining funds held there; and whether he will make it his policy to consider sanctions against northern Cyprus if such inquiries are disrupted.

Mr. Garel-Jones

The joint administrators of Polly Peck International plc were appointed by the British courts to manage the affairs of the company subject to the overall supervision of the court and the creditors. We continue to follow closely the progress of their investigation. Her Majesty's Government have no locus to intervene in the conduct of their work, especially with the courts in northern Cyprus.
