Mr. Alexander

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what is the most recent infant mortality rate in(a) England and Wales, (b) each region in England and (c) the United Kingdom; and what information he has on the comparable rates in (i) the countries of the EEC and (ii) the World Health Organisation European region.

The information is shown in the table. In each case the latest available data year has been given. No data are readily available for the World Health Organisation European region as a whole; selected countries, other than those within the EC, are shown.
